Wild & Scenic Film Festival is thrilled to announce Hipcamp as National Partner and Official Camping and RV Sponsor for our 18th annual event to be held January 16-20, 2020. Hipcamp is an online marketplace where people can list, discover, and book campsites and accommodations on private and public land. Hipcamp’s mission to get more people outside and inspire the next generation of people who are passionate about exploring and protecting our lands is well aligned with Wild & Scenic Film Festival’s vision. They believe that the more people are connected with nature, the more they are compelled to preserve it. We couldn’t agree more!
“After submitting a short film in 2017, Wild & Scenic has become a fixture on our calendars as we seek to recharge and motivate ourselves for the year ahead. Hipcamp is thrilled to be supporting Wild & Scenic in 2020, and the many artists and activists whose inspiring and important work makes this festival possible. Storytelling through art and film are some of the most powerful ways we can influence change, shape culture, and move people to protect wild places. Thank you for all that you do,” says Alyssa Ravasio, Founder and CEO.
Hipcamp reach has grown significantly to include an array of options for campers, including ranches, farms, cabins, tiny homes, nature preserves, land trusts, private campgrounds, RV parks, and more. In addition to serving campers, Hipcamp creates new revenue streams for landowners such as farmers, ranchers, and nature preserves, and the extra money supports efforts to conserve their land and keep it wild.
Hipcamp’s unique model and adventure ethos has been recognized in almost every notable publication that covers business or outdoor recreation, including Outside, Fast Company, The Wall Street Journal, Conde Nast Traveler, and The New York Times, among many others. In early 2019, Hipcamp became the first non-federal booking site for national park and public recreation lands camping through intense advocacy for open data standards among government booking systems. Their effort resulted in the creation of an API for Recreation.gov, our government’s official website for reserving public park campgrounds, and consequently, easier access for people wanting to camp and recreate on millions of acres of federal lands.
Wild & Scenic Film Festival Director Jorie Emory is proud to have Hipcamp on board as a National Partner, saying, “We are thrilled to have partners like Hipcamp who are so dedicated to inspiring more people to get outdoors and enjoy nature. That’s a message we try amplify through the films we present at our Flagship Festival and in our national On Tour program.”
