Pripyat Horse is a tribute to my friend, Marianne Kuopanportti Fennell, who died far too young. It is a splinter from a project we had worked on together for ten years, and also inspired by this famous quote:
‘A sparrow flies swiftly in through one door of the hall, and out through another…. Even so, man appears on earth for a little while….’ (Bede, 673-735 AD.)
‘Pripyat Horse’ is an expression of grief for one life lost. But I feel Bede’s quote could, unless change is possible, apply to the species life of Homo Sapiens – just a brief flicker in geological time.
