António “Tonecas” Paulo, the Mozambique-born Senior Wildlife Veterinarian at Gorongosa National Park, spends his days tending to everything from lions to elephants and African wild dogs. He also heads up Gorongosa’s pangolin program, rescuing these severely threatened animals from traffickers and rehabilitating and rewilding them into the park; all while mentoring a new generation of Mozambican conservationists and wildlife veterinarians.
