Wild Rivers Conservancy of the St. Croix and Namekagon

On Tour Highlight

This November, the Wild Rivers Conservancy of the St. Croix and Namekagon will be holding three separate Wild & Scenic Film Festival On Tour Events

At all three of these events, audiences can expect 90 minutes of exciting, engaging films, a few raffle items, along with great food and drink. Plus, they get to enjoy the comradery of other like-minded Riverway friends. This night of film aims to inspire outdoor recreation and a love for nature. This year’s film selection will encourage festivalgoers to find their place outdoors and learn more about what they can do to save our threatened planet.

WHO IS THE WILD RIVERS CONSERVANCY OF THE ST. CROIX AND NAMEKAGON?

The Wild Rivers Conservancy of the St. Croix and Namekagon was created to inspire stewardship to forever ensure the rare ecological integrity of the St. Croix and Namekagon Riverway. The Conservancy is the voice of the river and the only organization with a watershed-wide scope in the St. Croix River basin.

The Wild Rivers Conservancy of the St. Croix and Namekagon is the official nonprofit partner of the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway. As the non-profit partner for the Riverway, they work with the National Park Service to support Riverway protection and enhancement and provide opportunities for people to explore and discover the St. Croix and Namekagon Rivers. They prioritize conservation activities that improve water quality, protect and enhance land, and increase stewardship efforts. The Conservancy is the “go-to” group for addressing issues that affect the St. Croix watershed and this national park.

WHAT DOES THE WILD RIVERS CONSERVANCY OF THE ST. CROIX AND NAMEKAGON DO?

Together with the National Park Service and many conservation partners, they work to perform the following core functions:

  • Land Conservation: They work to protect and restore important natural and scenic areas along the river and throughout the watershed by partnering with land protection organizations.
  • Water Quality Protection: They focus on improving water quality, recognizing its interconnection with land use.
  • River Corridor and Watershed Stewardship: They engage people in educational, recreational, and volunteer stewardship activities that give them an understanding and motivation to advocate at the local, state, and national levels on behalf of the river’s values.
  • Celebration: The St. Croix River watershed is a national treasure. Individuals live, work and play in the St. Croix River watershed because they love this place, and the Wild Rivers Conservancy of the St. Croix and Namekagon celebrate that love at every opportunity.

HOW THE WILD AND SCENIC FILM FESTIVAL HELPS

Bethany Cox, Director of Development for The Wild Rivers Conservancy of the St. Croix and Namekagon says, “Hosting a WSFF On Tour event helps our organization by offering an introductory event to people who aren’t familiar with the Conservancy or our mission. We love being able to bring current and new supporters to our organization together during this fun, affordable event. We hope our attendees leave with a desire to act, whether it’s volunteering for a cause they support, getting outside in nature, or donating monetarily to an organization helping our threatened planet. We are hopeful that by hosting this event, our community of riverway stewards will continue to grow.”
