On April 25, 2025, join the Southeast Land Trust of New Hampshire (SELT) in celebrating a 15th season of SYRCL’s Wild & Scenic On Tour programming at The Music Hall in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Audiences can expect a program full of award-winning films about nature, outdoor adventure, conservation, wildlife, environmental issues, agriculture, and more.
The Southeast Land Trust (SELT) conserves and stewards land for the benefit of people and nature in New Hampshire. SELT serves all of Rockingham and Strafford counties and has conserved tens of thousands of acres since 1980, including nature preserves, hiking trails, farmland, and scenic vistas.
SELT relies on its annual contributing members, committed Board of Directors, and talented staff and volunteers to keep advancing critical conservation initiatives in their region.
Their mission is to protect and sustain the significant lands in their communities for clean water, outdoor recreation, fresh food, wildlife, and healthy forests.
SELT owns and maintains beautiful properties throughout Rockingham and Strafford Counties in New Hampshire. All lands owned by SELT are managed under a guiding set of broad goals and objectives for land management. The objectives of SELT’s land management activities are to encourage local production of food and fiber, to protect and enhance wildlife habitat features, particularly those suited or known to harbor rare, threatened or endangered species, to practice long-term, sustainable forest management, to protect water quality by restoring degraded water resources when necessary and by utilizing best management practices applied in sequence with management, to provide opportunities for outdoor recreational activities that are compatible with the primary goals and objectives of conserving the land, and to provide opportunities for education and research about nature, natural resource management, and wildlife
To propel SELT’s work of connecting people from all walks of life to nature, they have pursued partnerships and innovations that will provide real, tangible results for those who may face barriers to enjoying the great outdoors. These approaches are being coordinated by SELT Board and staff members and community representatives.
They are dedicated to building trust among the community and with traditionally underserved populations and seek to avoid reinventing the wheel by leveraging existing resources and joining already-launched projects whenever possible.
All-Terrain Learning Adventures (ATLAS) is SELT’s nature-based education initiative, an outreach program designed to connect children of all ages and backgrounds to the beauty of the natural world! Their goal is to encourage an evergreen love of nature and cultivate the next generation of conservationists!
Derrick Trent, SELT’s Events and Outreach Specialist, says, “Hosting a WSFF On Tour Events helps us connect with our community, expand our outreach, meet new people, promote our mission, and raise funds to support our work.
Trent goes on to say that, “Our favorite thing about putting on this event is sharing fun and inspiring films with our community.”
