Exciting Partnership Announcement!
We are thrilled to reveal our exclusive collaboration with Nevada City-based Madcap Records as the official music partner for the 2027 SYRCL’s Wild & Scenic Film Festival, coinciding with our 25th anniversary.
This partnership will introduce an enhanced live music program along with a special anniversary soundtrack to celebrate this significant milestone.
To commemorate its 25th anniversary, Madcap Records is releasing a special limited-edition vinyl soundtrack inspired by the Momentum theme of the 2027 Festival.
This soundtrack highlights the powerful bond between music and visual storytelling for environmental awareness, celebrating the significant impact SYRCL’s Wild & Scenic Film Festival has made over the years. It features a compilation of original songs from Nevada City, CA, and across the nation.
The festival soundtrack will feature approximately 10-12 licensed tracks available on a limited-edition vinyl, which can only be purchased through preorders or in person during the Festival from February 18–22, 2027.
Twenty-five percent of the proceeds will support SYRCL and its initiatives.
The open call ends on October 21, 2026, so submit your entries as soon as possible!

FAQ: Soundtrack Submissions
The thematic connection may be literal or abstract—above all, we’re looking for great songs to represent SYRCL’s Wild & Scenic Film Festival and its environmental impact over 25 years of films.

Submission Fee: $25 administrative submission fee per submission, non-refundable.

Song Length: 4-minute maximum

Genres: All genres are welcome.

File Requirements: Final or near-final recordings; pre-mastered mix files will be required if selected.

Preferences: Unreleased music strongly preferred.

Rights: Clear master and publishing rights are required.

Selections: Approximately 10–12 songs will be selected.

Permissions: Submission grants permission only for review and evaluation. Submitting music does not authorize us to release your music, nor does it transfer ownership of your master recording or any intellectual property rights to us without a final signed licensing agreement.
