A time to honor the voices, stories, and communities that have shaped LGBTQ+ history—and to celebrate the courage it takes to live openly, tell your story, and make space for others to do the same.
At SYRCL’s Wild & Scenic Film Festival, we believe films can do more than tell stories. They can open our eyes, challenge our perspectives, build connection, and remind us of the shared humanity that brings us together. This month, we’ve curated a special playlist of prior Wild & Scenic Official Selections that celebrate LGBTQ+ identity, community, resilience, love, and the people creating change in their own communities and beyond.
These films invite us to look closer, listen more deeply, and recognize the power of seeing our experiences reflected on screen. They remind us that history isn’t only found in textbooks—it lives in the stories we carry, the communities we build, and the voices we choose to amplify.
Enjoy the films, celebrate the stories, and join us in recognizing LGBTQ History Month.

In 2022 alone there have been over 300 anti LGBTQ+ bills proposed in various states across the country. Refusing to sit idly by, trans trail runner Perry Cohen formed a team of fellow runners, who identify as trans men, with an aim to compete in trail races in states proposing and passing hateful legislation. Miles to Go follows their journey into the world of trail running and the freedom to be themselves on the trail.
