Set on the Santa Barbara coast, this short documentary follows a small group of local fisherpeople on their journey to uncover the secrets of the elusive California box crab, an understudied species at the center of an emerging experimental fishery, while exploring the deeper connections between community, identity, and the dangers of life on the water.

Kadrik Blatt (Producer) - Kadrik Blatt is a College Emmy-nominated producer with a diverse background in both film production and theatre design. Over the years, he has taken on various roles, including producer, DoP, editor, intimacy coordinator, and colorist, bringing a unique blend of technical capability and creative insight to every project. His work spans multiple genres and mediums, showcasing his versatility and rigorous attention to detail. With a passion for collaboration, Kadrik continues to strive to maintain a welcoming environment with every new project. He operates as the Head of Marketing Communications for A Butterfly Production as well as the founder and president of Dock5 Films, a nonprofit with the aim of uplifting young filmmakers.
Tess McCormick (Director) - Tess McCormick is a California-based filmmaker and storyteller who focuses on adventure and nature-based documentaries that advocate for environmental conservation. She has directed multiple documentaries that explore unique ways in which humans interact with the environment. Using her degree in Aquatic Biology from UCSB, she specializes in underwater cinematography, using science to authentically capture and showcase the wonders of the underwater world. 
Audrey Engelsgjerd (Editor) - Audrey Engelsgjerd is a recent graduate of UCSB, where she earned a degree in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Film and Media Studies. She uses her passion for the outdoors, knowledge of environmental issues, and editing skills to share stories that inspire people to protect both the environment and the communities that depend on it. Whether fostering curiosity in children outdoors or editing a documentary, Audrey is committed to sharing her love for the natural world with everyone.
