After crossing Canada from north to south in 2021, the adventurers of AKOR expeditions set out on a new challenge: a crossing of the Canadian Far North, from the Yukon to the eastern edge of the country on Baffin Island. A 6,900-kilometre journey by bike, canoe, sailboat and on foot. But just months before departure, Nico, a key member of the team, is sidelined by a serious injury. The long road to his recovery unexpectedly initiates another journey: inspired by AKOR, a group of 12 people living with chronic pain embark on a collective challenge to cover, as a team, the 6,900 kilometres traveled by AKOR’s 2024 expedition, at the same time as the adventurers, despite their own physical limitations.

Beyond Parallels tells the story of two groups with vastly different realities, united by a shared goal: to push their limits. An inspiring adventure film about perseverance, resilience, and the transformative power of collective effort.

Ariane Moisan’s work explores the road less traveled — the paths of those who challenge norms, live differently, or push their limits. Deeply attuned to the living world, she crafts films and series with an intimate perspective, blending poetic imagery with immersive storytelling. Her projects have been selected at the Gémeaux Awards and the Banff Mountain Film Festival.
