Miguel Angel is a Chilean documentary filmmaker, cinematographer, and educator based in Oakland. His first documentary, “We’re Meant to Be Reinas,” was awarded Best Documentary at the Providencia International Film Festival in 2012 and selected for the San Francisco Latino Film Festival, among others. A graduate of the Social Documentation Program at the University of California in Santa Cruz, Miguel Angel’s work has been featured on media platforms such as BBC, Al Jazeera, CNN, National Geographic, Wired, Reuters, and Bloomberg. He is currently the Director of Content for The Story of Stuff Project, where he was part of the production team for Story of Plastic, which won an EMMY for Best Documentary in 2021, and continues his work in the field of video and education. With Burning Injustice, he and his team have recently been awarded the audience prize at the San Francisco Green Film Festival 2023.
