Artist Statement

Nevada County COVID-19 Memorial Remembers 99 Lives Lost and Gives Community a Place to Grieve. The traveling memorial is woven of elements from Nevada County – manzanita, willow and granite. Each manzanita ring is engraved to honor a lost community member. This sculpture ties to the theme, Currents of Hope, since if we can grieve together, we can move forward together.
