What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I love exploring the wilderness of the Yuba watershed but also planning travels. Whether on foot hiking or on mountain bikes or with my motorcycle. I also love attending music events, contribute to community building activities and jamming with friends around the fire.
What was your introduction to Wild & Scenic Film Festival?
A couple of years ago while working at the Center for the Arts I attended a screening and I was inspired to follow this amazing organization and the work Syrcl is doing in our territory to protect our region and the beauty of the Yuba watershed
Why were you interested in this role with Wild & Scenic?
Because with my event production background and the passion for activism I have developed through the years, I thought it would have been such a natural fit for me to plug in and help. Entertainment and Art connected to a cause is for me the ultimate expression of a healthy society and I want to be part of making the difference for us and for the future generations.
How do you expect your past experience will impact your new role with Wild & Scenic?
I always had a special passion for film but my past event production experience has been mostly with music and festivals. At Burning Man I realized that an event could be also about building community and about advancing society through play, so I am excited to experiment with these concepts at the Film Festival and help empower people while attending an entertaining event.
Do you have a favorite WSFF experience?
Yes, one time I saw a movie about an exceptional person, someone who lived abroad who just happened to be celebrating his birthday on the day of the movie premier. After the movie the director called this person and the whole theater sung happy birthday to them, it was moving, serendipitous and so fun!
What are one or two of your favorite films currently On Tour? Why?
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to sit down and watch any of the movies yet because I am focused on onboarding and then the River Tales event that is fast approaching, but my calendar is already scheduled for some screen time and I am sooo looking forward to dive into them!
