Calaveras Community Television

On Tour Highlight

On Septermber 14, 2024, the Calaveras Film Commision will be holding their Wild & Scenic Film Festival On Tour event as a fundraiser for Calaveras Community Television. The Calaveras Wild & Scenic On Tour event is an all day affair, inside and outside of the Bret Harte Theater in Angels Camp. The festival features not only great films, but also movers and shakers of adventure sports, environmental activism, nature, and the arts who will set up their displays and greet festival goers and share what they do to make the Gold Country a better experience for all. Of course, outstanding films will run all day from noon until 8:00 pm. Some of the best films from the flagship Wild & Scenic Film Festival will show on the big screen, plus locally produced films from the supremely talented filmmakers of their community. Almost all of the local filmmakers will be on stage for a post-film Q&A talk. And, watch out – at 8:00, there’s an After Party at the theater.

HOW THE WILD AND SCENIC FILM FESTIVAL HELPS

Chris Stevenson, President of Calaveras Community Television, says, “Our area is the foothills and mountains of the Sierra Nevada. We are nature, boots, and trucks. So, Wild & Scenic is a perfect match for our outreach. The On Tour program makes it easy and attractive to develop a top-notch fund-raising event for Calaveras Community Television. And people love the poster artwork!”

Chris goes on to say, “We thought it would be difficult to find 6 hours of locally produced films that fit the wild & scenic genre. Just the opposite is true! It’s difficult to whittle down the films to fit our time constraints. So, the best thing about this film festival is sharing the magnificent artistry from both the award winning national Wild & Scenic films, but especially the amazing cinematography produced by our local friends and neighbors – showing on the big screen before a live audience!”
